This wallaby was spotted in a residential yard in Essex Street Epping recently. Wow what a lovely suprise for this family.! Being towards the southern end of the Terrys Creek bushland corridor....next stop Eastwood!! Please remind people to keep their dogs on leashes. Thanks Virginia for the photo
we need our trees The Terrys Creek corridor provides wildlife a critical resource during extreme hot weather. On a walk there yesterday you would have discovered the importance of tree canopy cover, shade, coolness, water etc. Many birds retreat deep into the forested areas to find refuge & it is common to find them on the ground here with their beaks open trying to cool themselves down. The forest floor can be anywhere between 5-10 degrees cooler in summer.
Why have they allowed so many trees to be chopped down in our suburbs. We are living in a hot climate & we too need the shade they provide - often reducing the temperatures around by around 5 degrees. |
