Hornsby & Ryde Councils have joined forces to rehabilitate & restore a section of Terrys Creek which joins both Councils. Read more about the project in the Noticeboard section of this website. Congratulations to both Councils. who for the first time have joined forces to work cooperatively to achieve a positive outcome for this highly impacted area.
Byles Creek bushland adjoins Lane Cove National park in the Beecroft/Cheltenham area. I only discovered this area a few years back & was enthralled by its outstanding beauty & thriving biodiversity. Please click the link on the photograph to the story in todays sydney morning herald on why this precious area is under threat & the community pleas for the government to protect it.
This little guy was picked up by me a couple of years back trying to cross Essex Street Epping (near Bulkira Road). Eastern Long necked Turtles are usually sighted in the area during Summer. Look out for them lazing about along the creek - a good spot is under the pedestrian bridge linking Essex Street to Vimiera Road. Unfortunately, my first sighting of a Terrys Creek Turtle was a victim of roadkill. Please slow down & watch out for wildlife when driving along roads near bushland.
