we need our trees
The Terrys Creek corridor provides wildlife a critical resource during extreme hot weather. On a walk there yesterday you would have discovered the importance of tree canopy cover, shade, coolness, water etc. Many birds retreat deep into the forested areas to find refuge & it is common to find them on the ground here with their beaks open trying to cool themselves down. The forest floor can be anywhere between 5-10 degrees cooler in summer.
Why have they allowed so many trees to be chopped down in our suburbs. We are living in a hot climate & we too need the shade they provide - often reducing the temperatures around by around 5 degrees.
